Jane Summers drove her Toyota Tundra up the dusty dirt road that led to one of the smaller farms just outside New Winchester. It was already late in the afternoon and she'd gotten the call to come and investigate it from the Sheriff just after she'd left the bar. She pulled into the driveway which was empty except for a rusty tractor. Stepping out of her vehicle, she made her way to the front door of the antiquated house and knocked. The sooner she saw the supposed crop circles, the better.
She'd seen plenty of crop circles in her time but the ones in New Winchester had a different look to them. They were more accurate and precise than the ones created by the normal pranksters; they seemed to have an unnatural purpose. As if they were leading the way to something. Jane shivered at the thought and knocked on the door again when no one answered her previous attempt.
The thought occurred to her that maybe they were all outside looking at the fields. Jane went around to the back of the house and paused at the edge of the hill, looking down on the fields with her mouth open in shock and amazement. The family that had called the Sheriff's department was standing near her, also gazing at the huge crop circle.
