Jack MacReady tossed his cigarette out of his mouth as he stepped on top of it. It was the first couple of hours Jack had been out of the hospital, and after the food they gave him at the hospital he needed something real to eat...and drink. The local bar was only a small walk away, luckily for him considering his car was at the local shop being fixed.
Considering all of the event's MacReady was luckily indeed...His car might have been crashed and totaled but he made it out with a few bumps and bruises and a few broken bones. Unlike the other guy...died late that night, and Jack heard him scream the entire time. On top of that, the local police haven't been digging deep into the file of Jack MacReady, as soon as they do, Jack is going to have to either be leaving the little town, hide, or go to jail. He was never suppose to stay in one spot for very long, but considering his car wont be finished for at least a week...he was out of luck.
MacReady opened the door to the bar and slipped his sunglasses off and impressed the shadowy smoke filled bar room. Jack looked around to see a total of five people in the bar including the bartender. Jack walked over to the bar and sat down still looking at all the stuff hanging up.
"Whatta havin?" The bartender asked.
"A beer..." Jack said not making eye contact.
"Alrgiht," Bartender said turning around with a beer and setting it on the bar, "Nice scar..."
"Thanks," Jack said with disgust in his voice.
"Gotta name?" Man asked.
"Just passing through...no need for a name." Jack said.
"Oh? Then why you still here?"
"You want the full story? I'll spin it for you real quick..." Jack stopped as he heard the door open to the bar, he slid his eyes over to the entrance of the bar and paused before saying under his breath "...great."

Anne walked into the bar, glad to be off duty. She had had a long day and just needed a cool drink and maybe a greasy hamburger. She made her way to the bar and sat down on a stool near an older man that she thought looked familiar. Of course, if you lived in Winchester long enough everyone started to look familiar.
She nodded slightly and then gave her order to the bar tender.
"Hello, Anne. The usual?"
"Yeah, sure. Except change my normal lemonade to a beer. I've had a long day."
"Sure, no problem."
Anne set her small purse on the bar and put her head in her hands, slowly messaging away the head ache that had been bothering her since late that afternoon.
The bar was reaching its normal loudness which usually didn't bother her. However today it seemed to make her headache worse as well as her mood. Maybe coming here hadn't been such a great idea.
She looked over at the man sitting near her and realized he was staring at her. Sighing she titled her head towards him and said, "Hey, would you mind? I'm starting to feel like a gold fish."

"Hey, would you mind? I'm starting to feel like a gold fish."
"Yeah no problem," Jack said turning away and saying softly into his bottle of beer "...suit."
Jack didn't hate the law, it was they hated him, so naturally over the years it has been a dog eat dog world for Jack MacReady. The problem was he was in a small town, were it looked like everyone knew everyone else's name. No one knew Jack's name...and was an outsider...Picking fights would be quick and simple.
"Bartender," Jack said "Could I have a burger?"
"Sure thing, Nobody." The guy said walking back to give the order to a cook, "You were gonna tell me bout your story?"
"Yeah, spin it for you quick. I was passing through the other night" Jack said looking at his beer "Nothing special until I reached your little town's city limits. Thought I saw something in the sky, maybe a helicopter, a low flying plane...I'm not sure what, but either way it has bright yellow lights and moves very quickly, takes my attention away...and I end up driving into some guy. Crashes my car...Been in the hospital for the past day, my car is being fixed...and all I want is a beer and a burger."

Anne nodded in response and turned her attention back to the front of the bar. Then she heard the man tell the bartender that he had just been traveling through and had seen something unusual enough to crash his car. This of course, peaked her intererst and she half-listened to him describe his story.
Anne turned to face the man just as the bartender placed her beer and hamburger in front of her. Thinking she may as well try and strike up a conversation with him about what he saw she said, "A low flying plane, huh? Sure it wasn't a UFO?"
Anne took a long swig of her beer and sighed as the cool liquid raced down the back of her throat. It was a perfect relaxing agent for her, and she hoped it would help get rid of her head ache.
Anne picked up her burger and took a bite. The greasy meat was perfect as usual; she really did enjoy coming to this bar, even if wierdos like herself hung out there.

"A low flying plane, huh? Sure it wasn't a UFO?"
"Shit," Jack said into his beer again, he didn't want someone chiming in to his story especially if it was a suit, "A UFO?"
Jack rolled his eyes as he took the last swig of his beer, setting it on the bar he tapped the bar for another. The bartender brought another beer and slapped a large burger and a side of fries on the the bar next to the bottle. MacReady nodded toward the bartender to thank him, and turned his head toward the suit.
"UFO?" Jack said mockingly "Next thing your gonna tell me that Big Foot was in the other car, and the Locke Ness Monster was my doctor..."

Anne swallowed a bite of hamburger before replying to the man's response. It seemed everyone was running from the cold hard fact these days--even the experts. No one seemed take into account what was actually happening around here. How else could one explain the wierd going-ons of Winchester?
"Oh, its just a local concern. Some people seem to think this town is being taken over by UFO's or aliens...especially with all the paranormal activity."
Anne had a few cases earlier that day--the first being Gabe Rivers' farm with the mutilated cow. The next being a nearby neighbor of his that had a few crop circles in his field. Just the supposdly 'normal' pranks. Of course, Anne thought otherwise but as of yet she couldn't actually prove that it was something else.
"Could you be sure that what you saw was a plane? I mean...were you able to get a good look at it?"

MacReady picked up his burger and took a bite out of it, the burger was pretty good for a bar burger. He crewed it as he listened to the suit tell him about the possible sittings of UFOs, all he could do was chew his burger and shake his head with a smile. Can people actually believe in this stuff?
"Could you be sure that what you saw was a plane? I mean...were you able to get a good look at it?"
"Gee Lady, I dunno sure," MacReady said with a half full mouth of burger before swallowing "I said I started to look at it, only to meet head to head with another car going seventy mile per hour, so yeah, it was a plane...or maybe it was one of your UFOs..."

Summers rolled her eyes and took another bite of her hamburger, chewing the greasy meat and then swallowing before she continued on with the conversation. Again, she was being met with skeptism but then again she couldn't blame the fellow. Any sane person would be skeptical at first.
"All I'm saying is that there have been a lot of unexplained phenomenon happening recently, but since you're just passing through then I guess you wouldn't know about that, huh?"
Anne picked up her beer, took a swig, and then set it down again. The alcohol wasn't helping as much as she would have liked. Maybe she should just end the conversation before things got heated. She didn't even know the guy's name.
"My name's Jane Summers by the way, I'm working on all the paranormal events happening around here. Which is why I may seem a bit looney. Anyone would after seeing the things I have."
Anne's eyes darkened as she took another bite of her hamburger. She didn't know the guy from Adam but it was nice to be able to chat with someone besides her coworkers for once.

"Your a suit," Jack said coldly "A fed, knew it when you walked into the door. You all have the same look on your face, the same way to walk, it's like the Government made a cookie cutter sheet for their people."
Jack finished his burger and his beer and slapped a twenty on the bar and stood up licking the inside of his mouth getting the last pieces of flavor of the beer inside his mouth. He looked over at the Bartender who disliked the words he gave to the suit, but MacReady didn't care.
"When your in my bar, you treat woman with respect, be it Anne, or anyone else is that clear stranger?" The bartender said picking up the twenty.
"Yeah," MacReady said with a bitter tone.
"I don't think you do mister," A man said coming up from behind MacReady, another man who had been over hearing all of these events. "We might have to tell you a different way."
"Aw come on guys,"Jack said with a smile "Your break'n my heart. "
Jack pulled the man's arm off of his should and turned quickly to connect his fist with the man's face. The man fell to the ground groaning, around the same time another man decided to join the fight, punching Jack in his face, and chest. The sound of glass breaking sounded off as Jack looked down to see his sunglasses broken.
"I like those pair!" MacReady said punching the new guy.
By then the first man got up and started to help the second man, two against one was hardly a fair fight. Next thing Jack knew he was on his back, on the dirt looking at the backside of the bar. The two men were laughing as Jack slowly got up brushing off the dirt on his black shirt. He over heard a dog barking in the behind him.
Jack got up and started to head toward the bar door, only to hear the dog stop barking, and start to whimper. Then a loud yelp like the dog was in pain. MacReady quickly turned around brushing the blood off his lips to look at the cage of the dog. Dusk was starting to set in as the sun started to fade into the horizon. But strangely MacReady thought it was darker...
MacReady slowly walked over to the large cage, the smell of fresh blood covered the air, there was no sound of the dog, or anything else. Jack slowly opened the cage door and walked in hoping the dog would just attack him...and not something worse.
"Here pup pup," Jack said looking around the dog house, as he looked at the back corner he found where the smell was coming from "Oh Jesus..."
The body was missing, but the dirt was covered in blood, and the outer part of the cage was ripped open from the outside. Jack's eyes grew wide as fear crawled up his spine, what did this? More importantly where was the thing that did this?

Jane rolled her eyes when the fighting broke out. That was always the problem with coming here: people seemed to think the bar was a good place to fight. She looked down at her food and pushed it away while putting some money down for the meal and drink. She may as well leave before things got out of hand, however she might be able to mediate the fight that was going on.
Stepping in between those involved she put her hands out as if blocking their path between each other. "Gentlemen, gentlemen...is it really worth all of this? I promise I'll be fine. I'm on may way out anyway."
The people involved in the fight seemed to calm down; the men who had attacked Jack went back to their beers. Smiling a little she nodded in Jack's direction and said, "Well, it was nice meeting you, good luck with your car."
Jane turned around and headed towards the door of the bar, when suddenly her pager went off. She jumped a little and looked at the number flashing on the screen and realized it was Nate, the local Sheriff.

Jack MacReady turned quickly and ran toward the bar, opening the door and slipping through and looking around for the suit, the fed, she sounded interesting in something like this, and Jack couldn't believe he was thinking it...but it could be right up her ally.
He ran into the bar with all the people looking at him strangely but Jack was looking for the suit.
"The girl? The suit where is she?" Jack demanded.
The bartender pointed and Jack stormed out.
"Hey," He yelled' Hey, Fed?!"

Jane spun around when she heard the man from the bar yelling at her. He hadn't even told her his name when she had introduced herself to the man, so she didn't even know what to call him.
"Yes? This better be good, I really should be leaving."
Jane checked her watch and then jumped as her pager buzzed yet again. Sighing she looked at the number and saw that it was the Sheriff, trying to contact her yet again. She'd left her cell phone charging in the car or else she would have answered right away.
She hoped whatever the man wanted was worth investigating. She didn't really have time to deal with anything else at the moment.

"You look into strange...Shit?"MacReady said "I have something you might...want to see."
Jack knew he hadn't given a name to the suit, then again he was in the world of hurt and pain. He didn't need a the Fed's looking into his stuffed folder case he has against him. MacReady had seen a lot of strange things in the world, and this...what he just saw took the top of the list.
"...You really want to see this..."

Jane looked into Jack's eyes and saw a hint of fear. Her stomach dropped and she nodded her head, turning her pager off. The good old Sheriff would just have to wait while she handeled things here.
"What'd you see? Show me." Jane really didn't want to investigate what Jack had seen, but she knew she had to gather evidence to support her theories. The only way to do that was to find out what was really going on.
The wind tosseled Jane's hair and with it pulled a horrible stench into her nostrils. Jane recognized the smell immediately as the same scent that had come from the mutilated cow she had investigated earlier. Whatever it was, it was an animal and a dead one at that.

"I saw something," Jack said leading her toward the back of the bar through the outside "Something right...up your ally."
Jack pointed at the cage where the dog was, the body was missing and the bars were bent inward toward the poor little dog. Jack hadn't seen what did it, nor did he really want to, again he was worried that the Bartender would call the sheriff and report Jack killing his dog due to the fight that happened nearly moments ago.
"The dog was barking when I was thrown out, and seconds later it started to wine, and then yelp, finally nothing." Jack said "It was then I looked into the cage to find, well that..."
