She lay in wait, watching the officer, the others had gone out, leaving the lone man there to watch the station. A smile flitted across her lips as he stood up and made his way to the gents, looking rather uncomfortable. In an instant she was in the door, holding the bell that would normally announce her. Shutting it carefully behind her, she slipped over the desk and towards the filing cabinets.
She knew what she was after anyway, and was soon able to find the case files for a local disappearance, and return. It was a rather interesting one, and she was sure, if she could phrase it right, she could earn herself a pretty penny. She gave it a flip through and smiled with delight, putting the file into her shoulder bag, next to her laptop. "Well bloody done Akira." She whispered.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Nate boomed from the other side of the desk. He'd just come back from a Mute' case, and the warm weather made him unhappy. His hand had already found itself on his handgun, but he decided to give this young lady a chance to give her excuses.

She snapped around and saw the police office, his hand resting on his gun. *Shit shit shit shit shit* Her thoughts trailed off into a string of profanities. "Hmm, oh, hello, can you help me." She gave him a smile. "I was looking for an officer, and I couldn't see anyone." She trailed off for a moment, giving her a little thinking time.
"I don't know if it is of any importance but when I was walking along, just before, I saw a few loose dogs running around, barking and causing some disturbance." She had seen some but it wasn't why she was here. "I didn't know who to talk to about it, so I came here." She stepped out and made her way to the other side of the desk.

"Strays?" He asked, doubting her words. She was probably on about Winter's dogs. The poor old man couldn't keep them locked up all the time. "So, what, you came into my office? Lemme guess you were tryin' to track an officer down, looking through files, huh?" He said his hand dropping from the M9 in his belt.

"I don't know if they were or not, I wasn't too keen on getting close, you know." She gave a small laugh, trying to think up her excuse for the files. "No, okay. That was pure curiosity. I heard the region is getting a bit active at the moment, a few rather odd claims." He noticed his hand moved from his gun, that could only be a good thing. It would be the first time she had gotten arrested, but she would be damned if she was going to sit for a night in a cell. She never had before and she wasn't planning to now.
"Sorry, I suppose the phrase, 'curiosity killed the cat' would be a welcome addition to the conversation." She shrugged, looking a little sorry.

The Sheriff bit his lip. "Alright.. well, you're lucky there's not much in those files anyway. But if anythin's missing, you'll be going down."
He stood aside to clear the doorway, but remained stern.
"And no, according to the locals, it was Aliens that killed the cat..." He added.

She made her way to the bar before. *Jackpot!* And once more she turned around to look at him. "Pardon?" A quizical look passed over her face. "Aliens?" Of course she knew that there had been some things coming up here, but this was a little more, just another story she could collaberate and sell, although this one sounded a little less expensive.
She pushed her long hair back, the few strands that had escaped her hairtie had slipepd across her face, she wa a little worried it might stick to her lipgloss, not a good look.

He chuckled. "You're another one of those Para-Normal fanatics, huh?" He walked past her and sat down on his seat, slipped off his shoes and stretched out.
The girl didn't reply, but rather raised an eyebrow and allowed for a slight cheeky smirk.
"Well, some people - not me - but some people, say that theres something paranormal going on..."

She herself didn't believe in all that bullshit, but it sold well, she was a little superstisious after some things she had seen, you couldn't help but wonder. "Well, what do you think it is?" She asked, trying not to be too direct, she could get to whatever else later. "Surely, with you being police, you muist have a better idea than any of the others around here."
A look crossed her face, well timed at least. "I'm sorry, I'm not prying am I?" She feigned concern like the best of them, years of digging taught her how to use emotion and innocence at different stages, and this seemed a good one.

Her innocence washed over him, and he allowed for a little leway.
"Well..." He started with a grin, "I dunno what to think. I'd like to know that it was a human part-take in someway, but..." He trailed off then took a sigh. "Go ahead, now. Shoo!" Nate said playfully and picked his feet up onto the desk.

She laughed. "Come on! You aren't going to leave me hanging are you?" She smiled and leaned forward on the desk. "I'll owe you, you've peaked my interest." She rested her hand on her knee, straightening out her shirt a little taking her eyes from him for a moment to allow thinking time.

He sighed and smiled. "I'm gettin' old! I need some rest...Alright, well the locals say alot about UFO's, you know the sort, they dunno what else to do so they make up stories. Why don't you head over to the Bar, i'm sure there'll be someone over there with a story." He said and yawned lazily.

She leaned back from hte desk and feigned a hurt look before laughing. "Well, if you are sure. I hate to bore you to death after all." She leaned back in her chair. "Then again. I have no clue where the bar is either." She gave a hopeless laugh. "I guess it shows I'm a stranger." She smiled. Although she had learned English using an American tape, over more recent years, she had developed a little of a British accent, her voice still sounding a little foreign. "You sure you won't humour me for a bit then?"

"I'm a very busy man..." He said, despite now sitting with his eyes closed. You can't miss the bar, look for tobacco smoke."

"If you are sure." She gave him a sad smile. "I'll just make my way over to a strange bar in a strange town then." She stood up and waved back to him. "I'll see you later then." A few steps and her hand was on the doorhandle, pulling it open, and granting her access to the outside. She hitched her shoulder bag up a little and looked around, it wsas time she did a little digging, the file hidden in her bag would save for some light reading tonight, once she found a hotel at least.
